About me.

My name is Tom Simone. I am a photographer / videographer / writer / artist (...) living in Bethesda North Wales. I left my job as a digital journalist at the Daily Post on June 12, 2009, where I pretty much did all of the above. I now do wedding photography and videos covering the whole of North Wales and beyond, including Bangor, Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Rhyl, Wrexham, Denbighshire, Flintshire etc :-) I'm also working on an art project titled Heglu, which involves documentary and photographic work. Capoeira at Bangor Railway Institute

“Capoeira Mocambo” event at Bangor railway club on Wednesday March 17. Pictured is Master Ediandro, who is world famous in Capoeira circles.

I went to a capoeira grading event and display by some of the world’s best known practitioners of the martial arts/dance form at Bangor Railway Institute to take some photos on Wednesday, where I figured the low light and fast movement would beĀ  good way to practice.

I liked this shot because of the guy’s expression and the way he’s been caught in mid leap.

I pointed one flash straight up and the other straight down, there wasn’t really any room for anything more elaborate. I think my Sigma 10-20 was at 10mm and wide open (f5.6).

Getting the light on the subject and not filling the rest of the room was pretty challenging – this shot worked because I was close to him.

Please edit this- from ” a Capoeira grading event”. As agreed verbally on the phone on monday 15th March you assured me that you would credit “Capoeira Mocambo” on any photo that was made public. “The Guy” is Master Ediandro, he is world famous in Capoeira circles, he might apreciate the change.
Nice Photo, I look forward to seeing more.
